West Valley offers a full afternoon of learning.
The afternoon is separated into two learning hours.
You are able to choose your courses for each of the hours or feel free to attend just one.

When you register online you will be able to select which classes you would like to take.

First Hour: 1:00 PM to 2:15 pm

The History of the Temple Mount with Terry Daughtrey
This course presents an analysis of the history and purpose of the First and Second Temples in ancient Judaism. Special attention is given to the history and development of these ancients sites.

Interfaith Notions of the Afterlife: Where Judaism Differs with Rabbi Sheldon Moss, D.D., PhD, Temple Beth Shalom
Most religions assume that we live on in some form where God gets another chance to set things right. We will compare and contrast the religious imagination of various traditions as they soothe death anxiety with glimpses of what comes next.

Jews have influenced the music of the world for generations.  We will explore the lives, lyrics and music of the most influential Jewish musicians and songwriters.

This basic Jewish knowledge course is a 14 week course covering the basic concepts, holidays and history of Judaism. This course is open to the general public seeking basic knowledge about Judaism, as well as individuals and couples looking to convert to Judaism. In concert with the overall Judaism 101 program, participants will have the opportunity to attend special events designed to give participants hands-on experiences with Jewish ritual and traditions.
