Upcoming Sessions & Events

The Bureau of Jewish Education (BJE) and The Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix introduce “Wise Aging” in 2017, a program focusing on using the wisdom and experience accumulated--to grow as we grow older. Nine Valley organizations are collaborating in this program’s launch.

Based on the book, Wise Aging, by Rabbi Rachel Cowen and Dr. Linda Thal, and with trained facilitators , a series of interactive discussions offer opportunities for meaningful conversations .

“Wise Aging” programs have been successful in several cities across the US and Canada. Relationships formed have created long-term groups, some ongoing for over eight years, building community and peer support for seniors navigating the aging process. Participants in these established programs have been quoted as saying: “I looked at my legacy and life with new eyes and it gives me a source of pleasure”; “I see myself as a contributor, as a whole person”; and, “We’ve know each other for 25 years, but not like this.”

Participants interested in the Phoenix area program can find groups offered at locations throughout the Valley. Together, with the trained facilitator, each group can establish topics and goals to meet group interests.
The Phoenix area “Wise Aging” program is open to our community.
