The Bureau of Jewish Education has launched our Life and Legacy initiative!

Learn more about how you can become a Legacy Giver by emailing Myra Shindler at myras@bjephoenix.org

Established in 1971, the Bureau of Jewish Education works to strengthen Jewish identity, love of Israel and spiritual life through a pluralistic, egalitarian, non-denominational and respectful learning environment.

We are a multi-generational resource for our Jewish community, reaching out to both engaged and non-engaged Jews.

Guided by Jewish values, we are the thread that ties families to our traditions.

“My Hebrew High experience didn't teach me Judaism; it allowed me to discover it for myself. I was given the tools to realize my own place as a Jew and as a member in the Jewish community.” Hebrew High teen

“Thank you for teaching us to be great Jewish parents. We’ve learned so much and feel much more prepared for this next chapter in our lives.” JBU parent

We bring people together to create community. We bridge the lifecycles by providing multi-generational programming that actively nourishes Jewish home life. We provide teens with a space to explore critical issues through a Jewish lens. Our adult Jewish learning programs focus on religious texts, Hebrew language, current events, and a multitude of relevant topics. Our participants frequently spend years engaging with us in Jewish learning, laughter, and camaraderie.

We introduce participants to Rabbis and Jewish resources in our community through Jewish Marriage and Jewish Baby Universities, and family programming, as well as participating in ongoing professional development opportunities for educators. We provide curriculum consultations for religious and secular schools, organize and engage religious school and early-childhood directors to encourage teacher training through – IGNITE, Inspire & Empower Today’s Jewish Educators, and an annual Early Childhood Teacher In-service Day. In addition, the BJE serves as a major resource for Holocaust education for the state of Arizona.

Our legacy donors are individuals just like you… people who value the importance of and are committed to offering our community multiple levels of learning, regardless of age, religious observance, or ability to pay. Please join us!

“As my ancestors planted for me, so do I plant for my children.”
Taanit 23a
